Welcome to Country Oak Ranch owned and operated by Mark & Sara Dennis, We have been breeders of Registered Katahdin Hair Sheep since 1987, We breed for MEAT, Milk, Parasite tolerance, High fertility and Hair coat (all our breeding stock are A or AA coats), We can provide you Superior Genetic Breeding Stock, Our blood lines have come from long time breeders of Katahdin Hair Sheep including Piel Farm in Maine. Also from flocks in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, and Canada. We have exported Katahdins to Mexico.
We offer 4 out cross Ram blood lines, all breeding Rams are codon 171 genotype RR, all breeding Ewes are RR or QR, all lambs will be RR or QR, We are a USDA Certified Scrapie Free Flock (7 years). We are enrolled in US National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP)
Our Katahdin Breeding Flock totals 50 Registered 100% Katahdin Ewes, Flock Breeding Ewes over 2 years old weigh an average of 178 lbs, Pasture lambing in February and early March, Lambs are culled hard, only breeding stock are sold, all others go to a wonderful dining experience, Individual Health Records and EPDs are kept on each Katahdin in the flock.
We have been members of Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI) since 1987, elected to KHSI Board of Directors in 1996, elected President of KHSI in 1999, completed term on KHSI Board of Directors in 2001, A Charter Member of Southcentral Katahdin Hair Sheep Association (SCKA), elected President of SCKA in 2003; Mark is a KHSI Hair Coat Inspector (permanent).

A yearly Katahdin Order list is used (first ordered first served) on all lambs, all lambs are on Spring Annual Rye Grass Pasture with supplemented creep feed, ready for pick-up June 10-20, they are held until 120 day weights are taken for NSIP, Ewe lambs weighing 55 lbs Plus, and Ram lambs weighing 80 lbs Plus, all lambs will have a Individual Health record including 60 day, weaning, and 120 day weights, all vaccinations, Hooves trimmed, Scrapie tag, Certificate of Veterinary Inspection for movement, Certificate of DNA Testing results.
