My goal since purchasing my first registered Katahdin sheep in 1998 has been to produce well muscled, balanced, medium sized sheep with mothers who can give birth to and raise twins or triplets without assistance.

I maintain a flock of 20-25 ewes that are on pasture year round with access to shelter. My ewes come in the barn to lamb and are jugged for a day or two. I feed orchard grass/alfalfa hay usually from November to April. Ewes are supplemented with grain from the last four weeks of gestation through six to eight weeks of lactation. Lambs receive some creep feed and are weaned at 12-14 weeks. They are ready for sale in mid-July.

I have been a member of the Voluntary Flock Certification Program since 2001 and have been certified scrapie free since 2006.
All breeding stock has been been DNA tested by a certifed USDA veterinarian and all lambs that are not already known to be RR at codon 171 are tested.

I have been a member of NSIP (National Sheep Improvement Program)for 3 years and can provide EPD's for all my lambs.

The ideal ewe is medium sized, well muscled with a solid frame; will consistantly produce twins or triplets that she can raise without help and will pass on parasite and scrapie resistant genes to her offspring. She will do all of this and never need shearing, docking or crutching. This is the Katahdin ewe.

I now have RR ramlambs and ewelambs for sale. They were born January-April of 2009. Visitors are always welcome.
