specific and detailed sale listings. Besides checking this page, it is worth
looking at the member listing to see if there are breeders in your area with
sheep for sale.

must be mailed to KHSI Operations. Include your name, location, phone number
and e-mail address.
CLAIMS – The
buyer is responsible for determining if the seller’s claims are valid
including, weight, conformation, genotype and SFCP status. The following
website is a great start for determining if a flock is in the Scrapie Flock
Certification Program (SFCP), but note that some USDA-APHIS state offices are
not prompt in keeping the site up to date - http://scrapietag.aphis.usda.gov/reports/sisbreed.php
Sale Site, Workings & Current Policies
–
a) Note - Site will be updated once every two weeks and more often
if time allows. This will usually be done on Sundays or Mondays. Ads posted to
us, by Saturday evening will be posted by the following Monday (if we are in town).
b) Prices – Prices for sheep are not required, but we
recommend listing of prices as a service to the buyers.
c) Removal of Listing – For sale listings will be removed
after 3 months. Contact us as soon as possible after sales, so that we can keep
the site as fresh as possible. The more updated our site is, the better it
works for the buyer and the more likely they will use it. A person making a
long distance call to find out that the sheep sold 4 weeks ago will be less
likely to use this page in the future. Thanks!
d) Who can advertise sheep?

f) Recommendations –
i) We recommend
that only good and superior stock be registered. Breeders should only be
registering the top 5-25% of their ram lambs. Just having two registered
parents is not enough. Cull the low end and only register the top end. Quality
will keep buyers coming back again and again.
ii)
KHSI recommends that the seller process and mail in the paperwork to the
KHSI Registry to transfer and register all papered sheep. This will help
eliminate confusion for first time buyers and provide a service for them that
will keep them coming back.
