These regional groups are not subsidiaries or parts of or
legally connected to Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI). The regional Katahdin associations and KHSI
have several mutual goals. Many
shepherds are members of both a regional group and KHSI. To register your sheep, you must belong to an
organization with an official registry, such as Katahdin Hair Sheep International
(KHSI). Also included in the list is the
North American Hair Sheep Association.
Included in the Regional Groups is the Katahdin National
Sheep Improvement Program Breeder’s Group. This group provides buyers with EPDs on their
sale animals that greatly improves the ability to selection for performance.
Regional groups provide another
venue for help with sales of breeding stock, market lambs, education, regional
marketing, training and fellowship.
